FAQ
Everything you need to know before your first class—from what to expect to how to prepare.
Do I need Pilates experience to take a class?
Not at all. Our classes are designed to support all experience levels, including complete beginners. Your instructor will guide you through the equipment, movements, and modifications throughout class.
Which class should I take first?
We recommend starting with our Reformer Foundations class or any Mat class. These classes are designed to help you learn the basics, become familiar with the movements and build confidence before trying our other class formats.
What is the difference between mat and reformer Pilates?
Mat Pilates uses your body weight and small props to build strength, control, and stability. Reformer Pilates uses spring resistance and specialized equipment to offer additional support, challenge, and movement variety.
What should I wear to class?
Wear comfortable activewear that allows you to move freely. Grip socks are required for all Reformer classes.
Do I need to bring anything?
We provide all the equipment you’ll need for class. Grip socks are required for Reformer classes and are available for purchase at the studio. We also recommend bringing water.
Where is the studio located?
Reformist Pilates is located at 26 Front Street, Port Jervis, NY 12771
Are your classes suitable for beginners?
Yes. Small class sizes allow instructors to provide personal guidance, adjustments, and modifications so you can move safely and confidently.
How early should I arrive?
Please arrive 10–15 minutes before your first class so you have time to check in, get familiar with the studio, and meet your instructor.
How many people are in each class?
Classes are limited to five people. We intentionally keep them small to create a more focused, supportive experience and allow for hands-on instruction.
Can Pilates help with strength and flexibility?
Pilates is designed to improve strength, mobility, posture, balance, coordination, and body awareness through controlled, intentional movement.
What is your cancellation policy?
